The big question, especially when talking about God is; What is the truth?
“You are a king, then!” said Pilate.
Jesus answered, “You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
“What is truth?” Pilate asked. John 18:37-38.
Jesus Answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6.
In my case, I am not trying to find out if God is real or not. I had lived half of my life apart from God, then He came into my life and changed my life in a radical way. He opened up a whole life I had no idea existed. I have seen and experienced Him doing too many things, including miracles, to not believe that He is real. I would have to be lying to myself to not believe that the existence of God was true.
With human intellect, knowledge and use of words, as in the case of a lawyer, we can make any scenario sound whatever way we want. The glass is half full / the glass is half empty etc. We can change the character of God, to fit our agenda, if we don’t take into account the whole story and if we take things out of context.
The first to present his case seems right, till another comes forward and questions him. Proverbs 18:17.
In the Bible God teaches us that there is a spiritual world. God is a spiritual being that is not of the natural world. Although there is much in the way of evidence for God using the tool of science, science is the study of the natural world. Not the supernatural. God is beyond the natural world. He created the natural world.
God teaches us that there is good and evil in the spiritual world. God being good and fallen angels, which are evil. The one known as Satan, decided he wanted to be worshiped as god, instead of God. His sin was pride. God calls pride a sin because it is self centered, thinking too highly of one self and is not truth. It is believing a lie to be true.
God calls Satan a deceiver and the father of lies. Being deceived is truly believing something as truth when it is not.
The 1st thing we see Satan doing, after being cast out of Heaven, is deceiving Adam and Eve into believing that they could be like God. He was getting them to do the same thing that he did to get kicked out of Heaven. It is the same tactic he has been using throughout all history. People like the idea of being their own god, not having anyone else tell them what to do, and be able to make up their own rules. There is nothing new that we see now than from the beginning. In general, the only thing we learn from history is that we do not learn a thing from history. We continue to repeat the same mistakes. Turning away from God and His ways being the biggest mistake.
Actually, with those that worship humanistic intelligence, we are able to see the truth of God’s word more clearly. He continually warns us of becoming prideful and putting ourselves on His level and thinking of ourselves as gods. As in worshipping our own intelligence as a god.
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. Romans 1:18-32.
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written:
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”
Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:18-31.
But knowledge puffs up while love builds up. 1 Corinthians 8:1b.
God told us of these things 2000 years ago, and here we are, seeing the same things today. We see, throughout history, that man has a tendency to begin to rely on his knowledge and intelligence. This rather than the God who gave us the ability to learn.
God is calling us to believe right now. He created each and every one of us with a perfect plan and purpose for our lives. If we seek Him, He can be found. If we accept His free gift of what Jesus did on the cross for us, and believe and trust in Jesus as the Lord of our lives, we will be saved. All praise to God!
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10.
